I will be running Grandma's Marathon on June 16, 2018, and would be honored if you would show your support by making a donation to the MedCity Foundation, which was started by my college roommate, Kristina Hesby, in memory of her father, who passed away in 1995 from Leukemia. The mission of the MedCity Foundation is "to support those affected by blood cancers such as leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma while they are receiving care in Rochester, MN in order to promote healing and peace of mind." This includes free lodging at the Foundation's apartment in Rochester, gas and restaurant gift cards, general financial assistance, and much more. For more information, visit www.medcityfoundation.org
Donations in any amount are so appreciated. The Foundation assists very patient that qualifies and does not turn anyone away, which means that annual award amounts may be small, but no one is ever turned away. The board of directors looks forward to being able to increase these award amounts as funding becomes available.
My family has learned first-hand this year how challenging it can be to cope with a difficult diagnosis, especially when treatment is not available right where you live. Even $10 can help a family who is struggling with medical bills to put gas in their car or pay for a spot in a parking ramp, allowing them just a little more freedom to visit their loved ones.
