Now that I'm finally old enough to run the Boston Marathon, I am committed to running in order to support NSF, Newton Schools Foundation. Attending the Newton Schools from kindergarten through 12th grade allowed me countless opportunities both academically and personally that not every public school system would have been able to.
Dreamfar High School Marathon team, for example, is a club that I had the privilege of being a part of; through this club I trained for and completed four marathons throughout high school. Now as a freshman in college at the Rochester Institute of of Technology, I want to give back to the Newton Schools. Completing BC calculus in high school allowed me to start college with two semesters of math already finished, so NSF's funding of The Calculus Project, which helps minority students to excel in math with the hopes of completing calculus in high school, is important to me. As a biomedical engineering major, NSF's push to help fund a STEAM lab at Newton South promotes an appreciation for engineering starting in high school. Please consider donating to NSF to support my beloved hometown's schools to continue to thrive.
