BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS OF ACADIANA!
Our Vision: That all children achieve success in life
Our Mission: Our mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported 1-to-1 relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.
Accountability Statement: We partner with parents/guardians, volunteers and others in the community and hold ourselves accountable for each child in our program achieving:
• Higher aspirations, greater confidence, and better relationships
• Avoidance of risky behaviors
• Educational success
We are always in need of more volunteers to donate their time by becoming a Big Brother or Big Sister in our program. Our need for male volunteers is especially great due to the almost 60 boys in our program waiting to be matched with a Big Brother. Volunteers will commit to being a Big Brother or BigSister for at least 12 months in either our Community-Based Program or our Site-Based program.
If catching a ball game, spending a day in the park, watching a movie or just hanging out sharing laughs sounds fun, this program is for you. You’ll get to act like a kid again and both your lives will be forever changed by the experience. Volunteers will pick up their Little at least twice a month from the home to spend time together.
For Bigs able to break away from the office for lunch or who enjoy a set schedule for meeting their Little, this opportunity matches you with a Little in a local school. All it takes is visiting your Little once a week at a school to have lunch, play computer games, read books or just talk.
