I'm a runner. I'm not a great runner. I'm not ever a fast runner. But I love running. I have also never considered running a marathon. Until now. What was I thinking!? 26.2 miles! Well, I was thinking that if I was going to run a marathon it might as well be none other than the Marine Corps Marathon. What an experience! What a privilege! My dad is a retired Marine. My mom served in the Marine Corps in the 70s. My cousin is currently serving as a Sergeant Major in Quantico, VA. A dear friend of mine, SSgt David Stewart, is laid to rest at Quantico National Cemetery and is guarding the pearly gates with fellow Marines who have also lost their lives. I have many close and wonderful friends who have served or are still serving in the Marine Corps. This is the community that I love and cherish. This is the community that made me who I am today. This is why I want to be a part of Team USO of North Carolina.

Run with purpose. Finish with pride.
Do you have the will-do, can-do, must-do attitude to take on the 2018 Marine Corps Marathon with Team USO of North Carolina? Join Team USO of NC and be the "Force Behind the Forces," helping us strengthen and support our service members and military families.
How you can help
By supporting our Marine Corps Marathon runners, you will make a difference in the lives of our service members and their families. The USO of NC is a 501c3 nonprofit organization, not funded by the national USO, relying on the generosity of neighbors and corporate partners, and individuals like you and me.
Together, we strengthen our service members and their families by keeping them connected to family, home and country with 600,000 service connections each year. Your gift provides items like hygiene kits to deploying military and programs that help families keep in touch and reconnect. A gift of any size makes a tremendous impact on our military and their families; 93 cents of every dollar goes back into our programs. Learn more at uso-nc.org.
