Ahmad was a healthy athlete involved in wrestling with his high school when he suffered a stroke during a wrestling match.
Ahmad’s stroke was caused by a vertebral artery dissection in the neck. This tragic event has caused Ahmad to now become a quadriplegic and requires a respirator. Because of the stroke Ahmad has also lost his ability to communicate verbally. This optimistic young man has adapted to this adversity by learning to communicate with his eyes.
When Wish-Granting volunteers initially visited with Ahmad, he told them his wish was to have two puppies, in part, because any kind of travel was not an option for him given his condition. After recently learning his family is getting an RV, Ahmad has understandably changed his wish to travel and explore places he would never have gotten to with his family.
The Wish-Granting process has helped renew Ahmad’s sense of hope and joy. With his family at his side, he will create memories that will last a lifetime. He is pictured above with his younger brother who has always lovingly referred to Ahmad as his "Hero".
Thank you for making wishes like Ahmad’s come true!
Who we are:
MSD is proud to name Ahmad their third wish child. It is through the power of a wish that children are able to gain the hope, strength and joy that they need to battle their life-threatening conditions.
MSD’s mission is to make healthcare work better for our patients, families, communities, and one another. A wish can have an impact on not only the Wish Child, but also on their families and local communities. Last year, MSD employees rallied around Brenda and raised $9,500 so Brenda and her family could enjoy Disney World together.
MSD is excited to roll our campaign with Make A Wish into this years Better Together Conference.
