Ali Mac's Story: Why Run Boston & Why Support the MetroWest YMCA?
I am truly honored and excited to be raising money and running the Boston Marathon in support of the MetroWest YMCA.
As an organization, the YMCA has had a positive and important impact on my life. I grew up living in a family where my father spent over 40 years working for the YMCA. The organization has been a part of my life since birth. I graduated preschool and learned to swim with my mom as toddler at the YMCA. I spent my summer at YMCA camp as a camper and later a CIT. I even spent part of my career as a YMCA Health & Wellness Director back in the community where I grew up.
It has been a dream of mine to run the Boston Marathon since college. I am a recreational runner and was a collegiate Track & Field athlete - I was actually a thrower! I have watched my brother, sister in-law, cousin, uncle and many friends run Boston over the past few years. When I found out the MetroWest YMCA was looking for runners on their Boston Marathon Team, I knew this was the charity for me!
I truly believe in what the YMCA does for families, children and the services it provides for the communities it surrounds. As a Boston area native, I am excited to be raising money for a YMCA in my neighborhood.
What's Next & How Can You Help?
Please join me in supporting this incredible organization by donating to ensure the youth of our community have the resources, funds, and support to attend programs afterschool and over the summer.
Your donation means a great deal to me. Thank you for considering to donate, reading my story and for sharing my link with others that might be interested in supporting the cause.
See you out on the race course!
