This year, I am so excited to be running the 2019 Boston Marathon for MGH! I have always been a runner, but have never set my goal this high. Over the past 2-3 years, I have thought about applying to run, but this year I finally pulled the trigger. I wanted to run both for someone and something and the MGH team gives me just that. As some of you know, Dani (my sister) works at MGH as a nurse so supporting her place of work is important to me! Additionally, raising money for their Emergency Response team will help to save so many lives as emergency and disaster relief is so needed in our country today. Being in the health care field myself as a physical therapist, I feel that all the components of the system are so crucial to our patients and I am honored that MGH has selected me to help reach their goal.
Running for someone is also important to me. For those of you that do not know, my Uncle T, passed away very suddenly last year. He was one of my closests uncles and my life has been forever changed now that he is gone. Almost every holiday of my life was spent with him and there is not a day that goes by when I don't think about him. So this year, I also want to run for him. I feel that running in memory of him will give me the strength to push through these 26.2 miles. This is going to be a huge challenge for me, and with the help and support of my family and friends, I am confident that we can reach my fundraising goal and I can finish this race!
