Hi friends and family!
I am thrilled to announce that on Monday April, 15th I will be representing the 2019 Massachusetts General Hospital Emergency Response Team in the Boston Marathon! Our team is running to ensure the emergency care, disaster relief, and disaster preparedness of our health care community. As most of us know, MGH is one of the most renowned hospitals in the world and one of the first responders in many tragedies. After the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings, MGH was granted 40 entries from the Boston Athletic Association. This formed the team I am honored to be representing.
I have spent many marathon Mondays cheering friends and family on from the sidelines and this time I want to be the one crossing the finish line. As a current student at the MGH Institute of Health Professions studying to become an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner I have had the opportunity to interact with wonderful and inspiring patients over the last year. I have recognized my fortunes and want to use my ability to run to represent all of the incredible people who aren’t able to do so. I have witnessed Mass General’s magnificence first hand through my grandmother (“miracle women”) Irene’s cancer as well as my own interactions with the genuine physicians and nurses who sincerely care for their patients. I am truly driven by these people and feel honored to be able to run beside them.
I have already began training and am looking forward to achieving such a great accomplishment. I have set a fundraising goal of $10,000! Your donation will contribute to Mass General’s movement towards the efficient and safe response of any future disasters. I feel incredibly fortunate to be able to represent MGH in THE BOSTON MARATHON and achieve a personal goal of mine. Please feel free to come cheer me on the day of the marathon (I will need it)!!
