Hello Family and Friends,
Thanks for visiting my page !!
I am super excited and honored to be running in the 2019 Boston Marathon in support of MGH Pediatric Hematology Oncology Team. Please help me reach my goal of raising $10,000 toward cancer care, research and initiatives to enhance the quality of life for all these young children battling cancer.
This year, I am running in honor of my long-time friend, Kathy Takeda, who was recently diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor and is undergoing treatment post-surgery. Kathy & I are the same age and share an interest in Japanese culture & language. She helped me through a difficult time after I had lost both my parents and my oldest brother in quick succession to cancer and chronic illnesses. She helped me smile and laugh when I wanted to just cry. She is beautiful inside and out with a heart of gold and a beautiful voice whether she’s singing karaoke or choral songs. Please send healing vibes her way and keep her in your thoughts. She’ll be “running” Boston with me as I run with her ribbon and those of other family and friends who are survivors, currently battling cancer, or who have passed.
Since 1998, with the partnership of John Hancock, the MGH Pediatric Hematology Oncology Team has raised over $14 million to support the Pediatric Hematology Oncology Program at MGH. Funds raised are directed to cancer care, research, and initiatives that enhance the quality of life for the hospital’s youngest cancer patients. Through the child life program, therapeutic play - music and art therapy help pediatric cancer patients and their families cope emotionally and developmentally with their illnesses.
Each year more patients than ever before are referred to MGH because they continue to be leaders in transforming cancer care for children. Having access to the finest care at MGH, is one of the greatest blessings in the world for these young cancer patients. Most of us will never know what it is like to bear the unimaginable burden of having a child with cancer, but, for many families, this is their reality. I am honored to be a part of their effort in raising funds through the Boston Marathon 2019 Team for the Mass General Pediatric Hematology Oncology Unit.
Please help make a difference and share in the journey by "Fighting Kids’ Cancer, One Step at a Time.”
I appreciate your support.
