I am a runner, and I run for those who can't! I am THRILLED to be running in the 2019 Boston Marathon in support of the Massachusetts General Pediatric Hematology Oncology Team.
This charity is special to me because I run in memory of my aunt, Dr. Peggy Sartain, a pediatric oncologist / hematologist at Children's Medical Center in Dallas, Texas for 33 years. Besides being a "second mother to me following the loss of my own mother to cancer, she cared for over 3300 patients during her career.
Since 1998, with the partnership of John Hancock, the Mass General Marathon Team Fighting Kids’ Cancer, One Step at a Time has raised over $14 million to support the pediatric hematology-oncology program at MassGeneral Hospital for Children (MGHfC). Funds raised are directed to cancer care, research, and initiatives that enhance the quality of life for the hospital’s youngest cancer patients. MGHfC is also focused on the quality of life of its young patients and their families through the child life program.
Each year, more patients than ever are referred to Mass Gen because they are leaders in transforming cancer care for children, and helping these children and families fight this dreaded disease.
Help me reach my goal of $10,000 in support of this worthy cause...consider sponsoring me at $1, $2, $3 per mile... anything you can give. Your support is needed and appreciated...I am a runner, and I run for those who can't!
