Welcome and THANK YOU for being here! On April 15, 2019 I will hit the pavement and run 26.2 miles supporting Massachusetts General Hospital's Pediatric Cancer Team.
One of my favorite children's books is Oliver and Hope's Adventure. Oliver, a cuddly bear, and Hope, an optimistic butterfly, set out on a journey to visit a big amusement park. They're so excited! But their journey is nothing what they thought it would be when they have to cross rushing rivers, climb steep mountains, and slide down slippery ice slopes. When they finally make it to the amusement park, it's closed for repairs. After sitting with their disappointment for a page, Hope reminds Oliver of the fun adventure they've already had and get to have again on their way home. Sometimes, our adventures are not at all what we expect. For young children fighting cancer, climbing mountains is part of their everyday story. Let's join in helping move their mountains!
I have two young children of my own and would do anything to help them. This is my first Boston Marathon and a dream of mine. I am honored to be running for this fantastic cause. Funds raised are directed to cancer care, research, and initiatives that enhance the quality of life for the hospital’s youngest cancer patients. Specifically, they rely on the marathon to fund child life programs, art and music therapy, the Long-Term Follow-Up Clinic, and more. Because pediatric cancer has such different numbers and needs than adults, some of these services would not be available without your contribution.
Thank you so much for your support!
