I am riding for my wife's godmother, our Aunt Colleen, who was diagnosed with Stage IIIb NSCLC in October of 2017. A breast cancer survivor of over 10 years, her diagnosis really came as a shock to our entire family. She has just completed her first round of chemo/radiation treatment and continues to fight with grace.
My aunt Colleen means a great deal to our entire family. She is an incredible mother of three, a sister of three, grandmother of six, wife, friend, and etcetera. We are all incredibly fortunate to have her in our lives in one capacity or another and she is an inspiration to us all.
While there is no guarantee that each day won't be your last, being given a cancer diagnosis and continuing to get up each day to fight is awe inspiring.
By participating in this ride, I hope to raise funding for research, but also the level of awareness within my inner circle of friends and family who do not necessarily share in the mission that we do as a “BMS Oncology Family”. I also hope to inspire my Aunt Colleen to continue to fight.
My message to cancer
It's only a matter of time until our blood, sweat, tears and resolve result in a cure – consider yourself on notice.
