June of this year marks my 25th year as a GMHC employee. During the past couple of months I have been reflecting about where we have been in this HIV and AIDS epidemic, where we are now, and what we need to do for the future. Clearly we have much more work ahead of us. We must continue to address homophobia, transphobia, stigma, discrimination, violence, racism, and other critical factors that create barriers in our communities for overall health and well-being--with a collective goal to end AIDS as an epidemic in New York State by 2020.
