Face it, mission statements can be dry, and how can you possibly sum up all you do in one flat statement? That is always an insurmountable challenge for us here at Mountain Haven. In short we are a dedicated to enhancing the lives of animals botth domestic and wild, however there is a very strong human service component to the work we do. Through the Mountain Haven Pet Food Pantry, we have been able to keep beloved pets in their loving homes. From over a decade in the non-profit sector, there is one thing I, as founder of Mountain Haven of learned. The best way to cast the net wide to better serve and strengthen communities is to align with other like minded organizations. Get the help directly into the hands and homes of those that are in need. Laser focus on issues while being creative with problem solving. Hear the need and fill the voids. The Mountain Haven Pet Food Pantry surrender prevention initiative brings pet food into the homes of Seniors, Veterans, the disabled who are recipients of home delivered meal programs such as Meals on Wheels. Many of these pet lovers were sharing their own rations of food with their pets as none of the human service programs provide assistance with the care and feeding of pets. This is where Mountain Haven comes in. We bring pet food to these folks and to anyone else who has difficulty in feeding their pets. The goal is to fill the bowls of pets and keep them in their loving homes and out of already over burdened shelters. This program has been terrificly successful in preserving the vital bond between humans and their pets.
When other shelters reach beyond their normal scope of work to take in animals from natural disasters and other issues, they are stretched beyond their means. When we can, Mountain Haven assists by providing additional food to these shelters so they can continue to focus on the care giving needed at the moment without adding strain to their already limited resources. When wildlife becomes injured or misplaced due to natural disasters and accidents, there is often no one to care for and rehabilitate these animals. The responsibility falls on dedicataed wildlife rehabilitators who step up to the plate using their own resources to rehab and release these spectacular animals. Mountain Haven counts among our blessings an amazing federally licensed wildlife rehabilitator who is a vital lifetime member of the organization, who spear heads the wildlife assistance our organization provides.
The list is long as to the help we provide and the programs we wish to implement to better serve animals and the people who love them. I speak for myself and for the entire team of Mountain Haven when I say we feel both blessed and compelled to do the work we do and are so very thankful to everyone who helps us along the way. Each and every donation matters, from a single can of food to a pallet of food. Every morsel is crucial, every gesture is life preserving.
Please consider supporting us during this challenge so we can continue our mission of providing care to animals in need and at risk.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you from the Mountain Haven team.
