Not only does this race affect the lives of high school students in under-resourced schools, giving them fundamental coding skills and professional experiences that together create access to careers in technology, but there are serious bragging rights on the line. More about that at the end.
ScriptEd brings tuition-free programs directly to schools, where classes are taught by software developers on a volunteer basis. Students apply their new coding skills in paid summer internships where they work with role models in the field as well as gain the experience and confidence necessary to pursue careers in technology. With your support, ScriptEd can reach more volunteers, teach more classes, partner with more schools, identify more mentors, and arrange more paid internships.
The non-profit was founded by Maurya Couvares, an elite women's triathlete-- five years my junior--that I edged out by a minute and five seconds after we both PR'd in the race.
Maurya has been training super hard and is determined to beat me out. I need your support. For every $10 I raise on here, I'll match it with a dollar. However, if she beats me, I'll match it with $2!
