Hard to believe this May will mark 5 years since we lost my Mom to ALS. One activity she really enjoyed was spinning. I was as shocked as you!
I remember the day she called and said “You’re never going to believe what I did?” (all while giggling and I could tell she was smiling her big smile from ear to ear) “Um what did you do?” “You’re never going to believe it? (Insert giggle)” “Ok tell me’” “I took a spin class. You know when you get on a bike that doesn’t move and you pedal and stand up out of the saddle. It’s really the seat. I really like it and think I’m hooked” “You did what?” “I even went out and bought the shoes and a pad for the seat. You should try it. It burns a lot of calories and it’s really fun” “You’re nuts!”
My love for spin was not as immediate as my Mother’s that’s for sure. It took me 6 years to get back on a bike after my initial “Okay I’ll give it a shot” ride and now I spin 3 times a week.
So In honor of her love for spin I’m taking part in the Spin for Love Spin-A-Thon to benefit the Mary Beth Benison Foundation on April 8 at 11am at Worcester Fitness.
MBBF has done so many amazing things in such a short period of time. It is their mission to provide financial assistance to ALS patients and their families as well as provide financial assistance to people with cancer and other serious illnesses. Katie and her family also graciously honored my Mother’s memory in the inaugural MBBF 5k Run/Walk.
My goal is to raise $500 for this amazing event...$100 for each year she has been gone. If you would like to donate or even be part of Nancy's Wheels of Fortune I would truly appreciate it.
Thank You for your support! Xo
PS. Wouldn’t be a MBBF event without a party! Post party at McDonalds Tavern after the event.
