Enhance Diversity and Train Youth and Veterans in High-Paying Technology Careers
By 2020, a gap of six million technology positions is expected to be pressuring the United States workforce. It needs to be filled. Individuals from underserved communities are positioned to meet this technical labor need, but most low-income individuals face too many barriers such as lack of transportation, financial burdens, and family stressors to acquire the necessary education, training, and certification to compete for technical jobs. The job market needs them, but young adults and military veterans are encumbered by too many overbearing negative circumstances to compete.
With a strategic plan in place for 2023, NPower develops a pipeline of diverse technology talent to fill this encroaching gap in the U.S. professional workforce by providing IT training and certification classes. Veterans and under-resourced youth apply for this FREE program and those who qualify enter a class to learn in-demand skills such as cyber security, cloud computing, or network administration. Upon graduation from the program, NPower assists students in landing a technical position and proceeding on to stable, well-compensated career.
The economic situation of NPower's participants dramatically improves once they complete the program (80 percent do). 90 percent of alumni are placed in tech-based paid internships during the program and 85 percent of alumni obtain quality employment or enroll in continuing education within one year post-graduation. These newly trained tech professionals earn salaries 54-400 percent higher than what they were making before, if they were even employed at all. That's what you call an amazing turnaround!
