SAFE-NOW (Sexual Assault Forensic Exams - Nowata, Osage and Washington co.) will host a Walk a Mile in Her Shoes Event. This is the international Men's March to end rape, sexual assault and gender violence. Calling ALL MEN (and women) to show their support for victims of sexual violence by walking almost a mile wearing HIGH HEELS on the streets of downtown Bartlesville, OK. "You can't really understand another person's experiences until you have walked a mile in their shoes". Come strut your stuff! ARE YOU MAN ENOUGH?!
Location: Johnstone Park Pavilion
Registration: 9am; Walk 10am
Your feet may be sore at the end of this walk, but it's fun and for a worthy cause. Let's start the conversation about sexual assault, domestic violence and gender violence in our community.
Men have the option of walking solo, or as part of a team (e.g., friends, family, co-workers, teammates, etc.). Each walker will be required to pay a $20 (bring your own heels) OR $25 (rent our heels) registration fee to walk. Then, challenge your family and friends to support your participation with a matching or larger donation in your name. Ask them to help you achieve your personal fundraising goal. Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® Bartlesville, 2018 is organized by SAFE-NOW, a non-profit organization that provides free forensic medical exams and ongoing support to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. All of the proceeds from the walk will go directly to SAFE-NOW.
