I usually prefer water sports to land sports, but my Dad has taught me to love running, too. The last time I visited my family in Sonoma, CA, we went on a run together at the end of a (very hot) day, stopping twice to pick blackberries and continually admiring the beautiful vineyards we passed. We were training to run a half marathon together in Washington on November 4th, but a few weeks ago the wildfires in Sonoma County caused my family to have to evacuate from their home for a week, and even after they finally got to return home the air was too smoky for my Dad to run at all. So now I am stuck running this half marathon by myself, and with all these circumstances in mind I am turning it into a fundraising effort for wildfire relief. The devastation in California is unbelievable; many of those beautiful vineyards and homes near my parents’ house have been reduced to ash, and the area will be rebuilding for a long time.
All funds raised here will go to United Way of Wine Country’s wildfire relief efforts. Any amount you can donate is welcome and greatly appreciated!
Plus, I’m trying to shave at least 5 min off my previous half marathon time, and your support will help motivate me :)
Thank you for your support!!
