The Phoenix is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that offers a free sober active community to individuals who have suffered from a substance use disorder and to those who choose a sober life. Using a peer support model, we help members heal and rebuild their lives while also striving to eliminate stigma around recovery. Phoenix events are FREE to anyone with at least 48 hours of continuous sobriety and all our instructors are in recovery themselves. With this peer-to-peer model and a culture that is safe and supportive, Phoenix is helping individuals rise from the ashes of addiction and pursue lives full of hope.
Over the past 11 years, The Phoenix has grown from a small organization serving a few dozen individuals in Boulder, CO to a national movement that has served over 27,000 individuals throughout ten states.
To honor the over 27,000 individuals served since our inception in 2007, we are planning to raise $20,000 in this year's Boston Marathon.
Phoenix is not only breaking the stigma of addiction, but empowering individuals to take pride in their sobriety. Team members participate in athletic events wearing official Phoenix jerseys and work out in shirts that simply say ‘Sober’ across the chest. The opportunity for members and supporters to represent Phoenix as an official charity program in one of the most iconic running events in the world is unprecedented and a huge step for the recovery movement. While addiction continues to be a topic of national conversation, Phoenix is actively helping thousands to reach the other side of this disease, revealing that life in sobriety can be full of hope and joy. We hope that you can join us on this journey.
