While fighting for their lives, many women in active treatment for breast cancer lose their livelihoods, experiencing a loss of income that often leads to catastrophic financial losses and the need to rebuild financial health. Millions of dollars go towards resesarch, and while that is worthy cause, women who are undergoing treatment need Real Help Now. The Pink Fund assists patients in active treatment with housing, transportation, utilities, and health insurance premiums, paying patient bills directly to their creditors. Working at this wonderful organization, I see the impact we make in the lives of every day women (and men) as they undergo treatment.
I've taken the pledge, and am making monthly donations to assist breast cancer patients and their families. I'm running (who am I kidding, I'm mostly walking!) the international half of the Detroit Free Press Chemical Bank Marathon this year, and wanted to take this opportunity to make a greater difference. Every little bit helps!
P.S. Who wants to help me man the Marathon Expo booth?
