Teen mothers are facing serious issues resulting from teen pregnancies. the teen moms are rejected in their families and their children don't enjoy their rights as other children in the communities. Such discrimination bring about the dropouts and the teen moms prefer to involve in unpaid work or housework for their survival. The children born to teen mothers are likely to experience social, emotional, and other problems. Some children prefer to involve in drugs; the others prefer to live on the streets and especially girls born in such conditions are likely to become teen mothers at their very young age; they are less likely to receive proper nutrition, health care and education; and they are at increased risk for abuse and neglect.
Power Up campaing seeks to raise awareness on issues faced by teen mothers in families and communities and claim for the rights for the children of teen mothers like registration and other. The campaign will call for teen mothers to build their self esteem through capacity building sessions on life skills and human rights and child righs which will enable them to dream big for their future and become agents of change in the communities.
