My name is Jessica. My soon-to-be husband, Marlon, & I are getting married on April 21, 2018. After lots of long talks & debates, Marlon & I have decided to grow our little family by adopting a newborn. We have carefully considered how a pregnancy would potentially affect my diabetes & my anxiety. We know that the chance of miscarriages is higher because of my diabetes & that the risks involved with a pregnancy & how my blood sugars could become out of control. We discussed the possibility that a biological child could also develop Type 1 Diabetes & what that would mean for his or her life. We know that adoption is a long road, & we are just getting started. We know that this journey could take years & mean heartache. We are also aware that the adoption could ultimately cost us upwards of $50,000. We are asking for any donations you can give to help us grow our family. The adoption process could potentially take as long as 2 years, so we decided to start saving & attempting to raise money to help fund this now. While there are grants available, there is no guarantee we will get the amount of money we need. These funds will help with adoption fees, travel, the cost of a home study, & many more things. This support means the world to us, as this is what we feel we are truly called to do. We are so grateful to have such wonderful friends & family & ask that you share this with everyone you know so we may reach as many people as possible!
