The city of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, gave the United Daughters of the Confederacy an ultimatum to move a monument from its current spot or have it declared a public nuisance. The city has promised legal action to force a movement. The UDC memorial to North Carolina’s Civil War veterans should remain in place where it has stood since it was dedicated in 1905. After they have removed or destroyed all Confederate monuments, where does it all stop? Is George Washington next? Winston-Salem told the the UDC to remove the monument by Jan. 31 or face a possible lawsuit. Please contribute to the monument’s legal defense effort and Protect the Monument!
