Hey friends! So most, if not all of you, are aware of the devastation being caused by hurricane Irma. While Florida is the current focus, the islands of the Caribbean have already been crushed by this horrific disaster-in-progress. We don't yet know how awful this will be, but I wanted to hit the ground running. We KNOW they will be in dire need of help. The Caribbean, in particular, depends completely upon donations in times of crisis. The islands are still in danger from the second hurricane, Jose'. A full list of the islands can be seen here: http://time.com/4933182/hurricane-irma-islands-caribbean-bahamas/
I know many of us already contributed to the previous campaign for Texas. In spite of that, we're reaching out again because this is a desperate reality. We are a fandom built on love, generosity, and an extreme willingness to help others.
Whatever we're able to give, it will be gratefully received! So, once more into that pineapple scented breach! Let's spread some love!
About the charity: https://www.samaritanspurse.org/what-we-do/us-disaster-relief/
Samaritan's Purse is an evangelical Christian humanitarian aid organization that provides aid to people in physical need as a key part of Christian missionary work. The organization’s president is Franklin Graham, son of Christian evangelist Billy Graham. The name of the organization is based on the New Testament Parable of the Good Samaritan, in which Jesus uses a parable to teach people one form of the Golden Rule; "love your neighbor as yourself".
Up to 100% of your donation will go towards charity (you have the option to select between "most" or "all" for an additional $5)
Samaritan's Purse mobilizes staff and equipment and enlists thousands of volunteers to provide emergency aid to victims of tornadoes, hurricanes, wildfires, floods, and other natural disasters in the United States. They often stay behind after the initial response to rebuild or restore houses for needy families.
