Boom. You have Parkinson’s. Now what? The Davis Phinney Foundation offers the answer: Live well now. Through educational programs, useful online tools, inspirational events, and research toward effective therapies, the Davis Phinney Foundation empowers people who don’t have time to wait for a cure.
I’m punching for people with Parkinson’s because of my dad. When I was young and clearly not cut out for soccer or tennis, Dad introduced me to what would become lifelong fitness habits: swimming, running, combat sports, and cycling (Davis Phinney’s Olyimpic specialty!). In a culture focused on physical appearance, he quietly encouraged me to develop physical *ability*…even if that ability was glaringly absent in more traditional athletic endeavors. By example, he taught me that exercise is medicine, that you work hard with whatever you’ve got, and that seeking the just-right challenge is its own reward. Dad continues to set those examples daily, for me and for his community, as he fights for his own physical abilities in the face of Parkinson's.
So on May 18, I'm stepping into the ring at Founder Fights 3. I’ll do the punching. And you? Come be in my corner with a donation to the Davis Phinney Foundation. Together we’ll fight to help my dad and all people with Parkinson’s LIVE WELL NOW!
