When I was six years old I hosted my first Purple Lemonade Stand to help fund research for Sanfilippo Syndrome, the disease my sister had. I chose purple because it represents courage, and my sister Blair was incredibly brave and courageous every day of her life!
The Purple Lemonade Stand became an annual event each spring, and grew bigger and better each year. Friends looked forward to helping and everyone enjoyed visiting with Blair! It has been meaningful to our family to have the strong support of our community who all wanted to give to this important cause.
In April of 2017, my sister passed away. She was only 15. Even with all the incredible research that is occurring, there is still not a cure for Sanfilippo Syndrome and there are no survivors. I saw my sister suffer, and I do not want that for any other family.
After taking last year off, I’ve decided to bring the Purple Lemonade Stand back this spring in honor of Blair. I am determined to make it bigger and better than ever and that is where you can help! I want to raise $50,000 for the Cure Sanfilippo Foundation, and with your donation I know I can reach this goal.
Blair has always been such an inspiration to me. Without her I wouldn’t be the person that I am today. She made me a more patient, mature, and understanding person. She taught me to be loud, bold, and to love everyone unconditionally. She taught me what it really means to be courageous and strong. It inspires me that she woke up everyday ready to fight. I will continue to fight like Blair, and I hope you will join me in this fight against Sanfilippo Syndrome!
