When I lived in Roanoke, Virginia, I worked at an organization that taught English to refugees and immigrants. I was awed and inspired every day by their dedication, drive, and positivity in the face of unimaginable heartbreak. It was very important to me when I moved to continue to support refugee resettlement, so I was thrilled when I discovered GenR, a group of young professionals dedicated to helping the International Rescue Committee with their critically important work.
With this fundraiser, I am combining my passion for helping refugees with my love of running, through seeking sponsorships for each mile I run in the Charlottesville Fall Classic Half Marathon.
Below are suggested donation levels, however, support of any amount is appreciated!
Entire Race: $1,000
One Mile: $90
Half Mile: $50
Quarter Mile: $25
Help me go the distance, and race all 13.1 miles in support of refugee resettlement!
All funds will go towards the purchasing of a van for the IRC of Charlottesville to provide much-needed transportation services for refugees, so they can get to job interviews, doctors appointments, etc.
Your donation will make a real, substantial difference in lives of our newest community members, who are doing everything they can to build a better life for themselves and their families.
Simply let me know the distance you want to sponsor when you make the donation and together we can cover the full 13.1 miles!
