As a Boston transplant living in Philly finding my sense of belonging and “my people” was not always easy. (Let’s just say the Boston/Philly sports rivalries don’t help either). Adjusting to a new city and finding my niche was challenging when I first arrived. Then I found the running community. Not being much of a runner through high school or even college I was definitely intimidated, but I was welcomed in with open arms. As my friendships grew so did my running and I began to figure out what running really meant to me. That’s when I found the Run Across Haiti and saw how far it could take me. The run Across Haiti is a 200+ mile coast to coast run across the country of Haiti. I have never felt such a calling to be a part of a run before.
WORK accompanies families in Haiti out of poverty through good, dignified jobs. The passion of WORK and the values this organization stands by resonate deeply with me. Particularly the ideas of sustainable change and continual follow up with the families and community of Menelas. I am honored to be a part of this run, this organization, and to help do my little part in showing that Haiti is not a place to be feared or to be pitied. Please join me in supporting a truly amazing organization doing such important work for those in need. Let’s see where these little legs can take me!
