RMH Boston Harbor leases and operates 10 apartments for the purpose of providing “homes-away-from-home” to families with critically ill children while they are undergoing treatment at Boston area hospitals. Families travel from all over the world to receive treatment often leaving behind family and friends to seek out the medical care which they feel will give their child the best chance at survival. When families make the decision to travel for medical care, they must find solutions to three major questions:
Where will we find a comfortable, family-friendly place to stay?
How will we afford this place for six weeks or longer?
Who will help us to find our way around this new, strange city?
RMH Boston Harbor successfully answers each of these questions by providing private, one-bedroom apartments at no cost to families in need. And the best part is: all of this is provided at no cost to the families who stay with us. Each apartment costs RMH Boston Harbor roughly $150 per night to lease and operate. This amount includes the cost of rent, utilities, cleaning, cable, wifi, and a telephone, as well as the expenses incurred by keeping the units furnished and stocked with food and games, and the cost of hosting activities for our guests to enjoy together.
