I am SO excited to once again be Running for Refugees this year! In support of New Haven's WONDERFUL Integrated Refugee and Immigrant Services (IRIS), I will be running a 5K on Sunday, February 4. IRIS has been doing amazing work for years, but given the current hostile climate toward immigrants and refugees, it is more important now than ever for us all to show IRIS, and all the immigrants and refugees they serve, that we appreciate their work and support them!
And, on a personal note, running this race last year, right after the initial travel ban was put in place, was one of the most positive experiences of my life. The support and encouragement I received from so many of you, as well as the spirit of that day, was truly inspiring. Let's make it an even better event this year!
ANY amount is appreciated and means so much! Below is a desciption from IRIS as well.
Thank you all,
Kick off Super Bowl Sunday at the 2018 Run for Refugees on February 4th! Support refugees at our largest annual fundraiser for IRIS (Integrated Refugee & Immigrant Services), a refugee resettlement agency in New Haven, CT. IRIS helps refugees and other displaced people establish new lives, regain hope, and contribute to the vitality of Connecticut’s communities.
At our sold out event last year, 2,500 runners enjoyed a scenic 5K & 2K walk/run in East Rock Park in New Haven. The run includes a post-race party with live music, international food, and an awards ceremony celebrating our mission to positively integrate refugees to Connecticut.
