On Sunday, September 17, 2017, I'll be running the Philadelphia Rock n' Roll Half Marathon for the Colon Cancer Alliance. I'm officially sponsored by the CCA, and I've committed to raising a very modest $800, given the short timeline. If you're able to donate to this important cause, it would mean so much to me, my family, and everyone affected by colon cancer. It would also be a great sign that this mama-to-be can still grind it out on the race course. Read on to learn more:
As many of you may know, last April 2016, my brother Brian was diagnosed with advanced stage colon cancer. He's fighting hard and we're all pitching in to help however we can. In addition to the help you've all provided over the last year and a half, we truly appreciate your emotional support--it means the world to us, and it has helped us through the most trying times. Although it has been the hardest year and a half for Brian and my family, these last few months have brought welcome joyous anticipation for the next stage of our lives: my husband, Mike, and I are beyond excited and look forward to becoming parents at the end of January 2018! And just because I'm with child doesn't mean I'm slowing down. While Brian fights on bravely, so too are we all trying to do our part--not just for him, but for everyone affected by this disease. So with him as my inspiration, I'm doing what I do best: running my butt off to raise money for an important cause.
Thank you all for the love and support. We feel it from far and wide.
