In August of 2009 I lost someone very near and dear to my family. Uncle Mike was the sweetest person you would ever come across and cared deeply for his family. While he looked intimidating because of his tall height, he was a very goofy person with an amazing personality. I remember laughing while listening to him and my other uncle (also an officer) debate which police branch was better, the shield or the star. I also remember in August 2009 being told the news that devastated my family, thus changing us forever. My uncle was gone, taken on his first night as Corporal. To help honor him I am running the virtual 5k for police week. With this I am raising money for the National Police Week 5k. All money goes towards remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice in our communities and their families. This includes helping Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S) who help and support families, friends and love ones who have lost someone in the line of duty as a police officer. The money also goes towards ensuring that the police memorial wall is maintained for those to see the thousands of names on the many walls. Thank you for your help as I try to honor my uncle who I miss everyday. Love you Uncle Mike!
