Never done one of these fundraisers before but thought I would give it a shot. Forty years, 20 marathons, 1000's of miles logged it's time to put all those miles to good use and run for a cause.
Regina and I have created a perfect storm in which we can enjoy our love of nature, wildlife, travel, adventure, and helping others. I will be running the Safaricom Marathon. A 13.1 mile race through the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy in Kenya to raise money for the Tusk Foundation sponsored by the Duke of Cambridge, Prince William. Note, 100% of your donation will go directly to the Tusk Trust. Their focus in East Africa is on anti-poaching, community conservation, human-wildlife conflict mitigation, habitat protection, and technology & innovation.
More important than money, prayers are most welcome. I leave you with a quote from my little running group in Uganda (picture above). When I was running the kids would follow and always ask, "What are you fearing?" Be not afraid.
Jim and Regina
P.S. Thomas if you got that new model Tesla for my bday sell it and give the money to Tusk.
