Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina strives through education, advocacy, and partnerships to eliminate hunger by the solicitation and distribution of food since 1981.
The need is great. 18.3% of our service area population, over 527,000 people, live in poverty including over 188,000 children and over 41,000 seniors. We believe that together we can end hunger.
Through the help of our donors and corporate partners, we are able to provide food for over 700 partner agencies including soup kitchens, emergency pantries, homeless shelters, senior programs, low-income daycares, veteran needs, and animal rescues.
We annually distribute over 54 million pounds of food and other household items throughout our 19 county service region. 17.5 million pounds of our annual distribution is fresh produce, meat and dairy.
