According to the 2017 Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count, nearly 58,000 men, women, and children are homeless in Los Angeles County. This number is up a staggering 46% since 2013. Homelessness in LA County impacts us all, and we have an opportunity to address it together.
Our Associate Board represents Shelter Partnership, a nonprofit organization collaboratively solving homelessness through policy analysis, program design, resource development, and advocacy in support of agencies and local governments that serve the homeless. In its history, Shelter Partnership has helped secure over $1 billion in funding for the homeless in the Los Angeles community. Shelter Partnership also operates the S. Mark Taper Foundation Shelter Resource Bank out of a warehouse in the City of Bell, the largest homeless product resource facilities in the nation. Shelter Partnership’s resource bank has secured $240 million in unused donated goods from over 600 companies and has distributed over $230 million to more than 550 agencies that serve the homeless and very poor.
Our Associate Board is running its Third Annual Run for Shelter 5K to raise money that will help keep Shelter Partnership doing everything possible to achieve its mission of solving homelessness in our county. Please consider joining us in this worthwhile cause by donating, fundraising, and running (one or any combination of those three). It is people like you that keep Shelter Partnership thriving, and we need your help.
