New Liife Volunteering Society (NLVS) is a non-profit organization that aims to alleviate the suffering of the underprivileged through three main branches: healthcare, education, and community service. It consists of five Chicago-area medical school and three undergraduate chapters, which strive to provide these services by programs such as free tutoring, health screenings, global-health service trips, and medical care through our free clinic.
The NLVS student-run, free health clinic serves as a comprehensive medical care facility dedicated to serving the uninsured of Chicago in primary and secondary prevention of chronic medical conditions. Every Saturday, medical students and volunteer translators from all of our chapters as well as faculty donate their time and clinical skills to serve our diverse patient population, the majority of which lives 200% under the poverty line. We also provide a unique opportunity for peer to peer teaching and an educational setting to learn and practice clinical skills. Since the clinic opened in 2003, we have now seen upwards of 15,000 patients!
With your help, we are hoping to expand the services offered both to our clinic patients and the communities that NLVS serves outside the clinical setting!
