Golden Gate Regional Foundation sponsors awards and the dissemination of films made by and about disabled individuals globally. These individuals compete at the International SuperFest Film Festival held in the Bay Area each year. Winning media helps people with disability showcase their professional and amateur abilities in film to the greater community. The media itself serves as a library of personal vignettes to help communities to understand the triumphs, challenges and commonality of dreams and setbacks that people with disability encounter as they live their lives and access their communities. These serve as motivation, education, advocacy, and positive reinforcement for people with disability of all ages and for the greater disabled community that includes family members and supporters.
