We are excited to be part of the SAVING PET LIVES challenge! Saving pets lives is a challenge for us everyday and has been our mission for the last 45 years, but, this year was more so than most.
Sept. 20th 2017, Hurricane Maria devastated our island, St. Croix, in the US Virgin Islands. As she blew by, she took our little shelter with her. We, were left homeless! Fortunately we had been able to arrange for air transport of ALL pets in our care the day prior, so we at least knew they were safe. But we were broken. With homes of our own beaten and battered, our first thought was to assure that our islands pets and pet lovers had the resources they need to find safety. It was a grueling next few months as we found a temporary home for our shelter, helped hundreds of pet owners, feed , rescue and take their animals stateside. We have begun our process for rebuilding and returning to our shelter home, and in the meantime we continue to serve our residents.
We have taken in over 900 animals since January 1. They keep coming.
We offer free and low/cost spay neuter 4 days a week.
We offer medical assistance and reduced rates to our community.
Our adoption center is finding more homes than it ever has before.
We work to help animals stay healthy and happy in their homes and to provide and promote the humane treatment of all animals, through humane education services, community outreach service and animal protection. Please make a donation to help our island shelter continue its vital work in our community! Thank You!
