We need your support!
As many of you know, I took a position with the American Red Cross as the Senior Disaster Program Manager for the Kentucky Region upon returning to the states from our time in Germany. A majority of the disasters that we respond to are home fires, so we are taking action to prevent them! One of the things that we do in an effort to reduce death and injury is install free smoke alarms in homes located in high-risk neighborhoods. We have already saved 27 lives in Kentucky as the smoke alarms we installed allowed families to get out safely! We have a large nationwide event coming up called Sound the Alarm between 9/23/2017-10/15/2017. Please consider supporting this cause by volunteering with your local Red Cross or by donating. Every little bit helps, and $15 will cover the cost of the fire safety training and instalation of one smoke alarm!
Seven times a day someone in this country dies in a house fire and more than 60 percent of fire deaths occur in homes without working smoke alarms. As a first responder to these local tragedies, the Red Cross is working to improve the odds of survival by as much as 25 percent over the next few years.
Sound the Alarm. Save a Life is a recurring national event where Red Cross volunteers will be partnering with fire departments and community groups across the country to install FREE smoke alarms, educate families about fire prevention, and map fire escape routes.
A gift of any size helps prepare, respond, and help families recover from home fires. your gift can literally help save a life and provide hope and urgent relief, like food, shelter, and other essentials, to people in their time of greatest need. Please support this important effort and encourage your family and friends to join you.
