Installing Alarms and Saving Lives
Every day, seven people die in U.S. home fires, most in households that lack working smoke alarms, with children and the elderly disproportionately killed. As a first responder to these local tragedies, the American Red Cross wanted to do more.
That’s why we launched our Home Fire Campaign in 2014 and began knocking on doors. In just over three years, we’ve made a tremendous difference, installing more than 1 million smoke alarms nationwide and making a huge impact here in our community.
Help Us Install More than 100,000 Smoke Alarms
Each year, the Red Cross will rally volunteers to install 100,000 new alarms nationwide, and, at the same time, raise awareness of home fire safety through home visits and national marketing and media. Here in Baton Rouge, our partners will be front and center during this push. They'll also enjoy ongoing awareness year-round, as we continue making area neighborhoods safer.
