While Staci Alonso was serving on the board of a women’s shelter, she discovered that domestic violence victims often had nowhere to go because shelters wouldn’t accept their pets. So, she created a solution. In 2007, Staci opened Noah’s Animal House, located on the grounds of domestic violence shelters. It’s a full-service shelter where animals can stay and receive care while their owners get back on their feet. The group has housed more than 1,500 animals for women who’ve travelled from 21 states to find safety with their beloved pets.
