Before I started working for the American Red Cross I knew them for their response to large disasters such as Hurricane Harvey and the California Wildfires, however 90% of the disasters American Red Cross volunteers and workers respond to are homefires.
For the families impacted by homefires working smoke alarms and fire escape plans can often be the difference between life and death. Seven times a day someone in this country dies in a house fire and more than 60% of fire deaths occur in homes without working smoke alarms.
That is why this spring the American Red Cross is working to Sound the Alarm. Save a Life.
$15 = fire safety training and installation of one smoke alarm.
My goal is to raise $900 = 60 alarms by May 13
This is a national event where Red Cross volunteers will be partnering with fire departments and community groups across the country to install FREE smoke alarms, educate families about fire prevention, and map fire escape routes.
Join me on May 12 to volunteer and help install free smoke alarms in Mission Viejo. https://tinyurl.com/2018STAMissionViejo.
