I am so excited to run the Boston Marathon on behalf of Strivers Inc! I believe so strongly in the power of running and physical fitness to build confidence, to find community, and to have an impact. Strivers brings all of this together for young girls in the Natick community. This deep connection to others and the building of self-esteem during the scary middle school years is so critically important to building kind, resiliant young women leaders.
I have a special relationship with running that came for me much later in life. Through running, I found my true, authentic self. It is through running that I manage to find the inner peace to manage a career, a family, and my many volunteer efforts. And, it is through running that I become a better person, wife, and mom. I can only wish that I had had a program like Strivers when I was younger.
Please consider contributing whatever you can to this incredible program. The funds will directly contribute to the educational success of Strivers supporters and directly impact their growth into young leaders.
I am truly honored to support this organization and I hope you will contribute to my Boston Marathon run.
And, if that isn't enough - running the Boston Marathon is my 40th birthday present to myself! It has been a goal and dream of mine ever since I starting running and I couldn't imagine a better time, a better year, or a better organization to run it for. Please contribute!
More about Strivers
STRIVERS Running Club for Girls is a Natick based program established in 2009. The mission of the STRIVERS is to develop strong, confident, athletic, and community-loyal young women. This is achieved through the process of training and completing a 5k Road Race within a supportive team environment. To date, over 550 girls have successfully completed our program with 80 percent of our members running an average of three years as a STRIVER.
The STRIVERS program is designed for 5th through 8th grade girls. Members become runners, experience the sense of accomplishment when they successfully complete a 5k, and learn the power that runners can bring to a community when they work together. Since the program’s inception, our girls have donated many service hours and lead numerous community outreach projects from food drives, back-pack collections, and town wide clean ups in an effort to demonstrate the positive impact a group of runners can make on their community.
The STRIVERS Inc. Scholarship Fund has recently been established to provide funds for those our program directly impacts. Our goal for the scholarship fund is to assist those individuals who have run with us, volunteered for us, participated in any of our races, or simply have a love of running as much as we do. The STRIVERSInc. Scholarship will provide a one-time award to one or more high school students pursuing a college education.
