The Sufferfest is a collection of more than 50 structured interval workouts intended to help people do their best. Each workout is a challenge! One of the things they (insanely!) encourage us to do is to become a Knight of Sufferlandria (KoS). In order to do that, one must do 10 of these strenuous workouts back to back with a maximum of 10 minutes between each one. The Sufferfest is also invested in helping others. They support bikes for people in Africa, they sponsor the only international, professional bike team in Africa, they raise money for Parkinson's Disease and generally believe in helping others. So, if you want to be a KoS, they encourage you to use this epic event to also help others and pick a charity. I have chosen to raise money for children with Timothy Syndrome. This is a rare and fatal disease. I happen to know one of these children, Bear. I have known many toddlers in my life and I think that the happiest toddler I've known is Bear. When we are doing the Sufferfest, if we think it is too much, we just stop peddling or reduce the intensity, and voila!, no more suffering. Children with Timothy Syndrome don't have that luxury and I wish they did. So, I am asking you to donate with me to a worthy cause to help find a cure for a rare, childhood disease.
A note from Bear's mom:
I am humbled that John would choose Timothy Syndrome as the cause to support. It is SUCH a rare disease (50 people worldwide), which makes fundraising challenging. Every donation made will funnel through the SADS charity listed and go directly to the Timothy Syndrome Alliance, which is making headway on discovering a cure. I am SO thankful for each of you! -Brittany
