It's hard to believe that this will be my third year with Team Blonde and the BvB Dallas organization. It will also be my second year on leadership as an Ambassador for this cause which I am so passionate about.
Two years ago I joined Team Blonde with the intention of raising funds in memory of my grandmother, Patricia Pierron Holley, who my family lost to Alzheimer's disease in 2012 after a 6 year battle. Last year I also played in memory of Peggy Bourg, the grandmother of a lifelong friend, who lost her battle with Alzheimer's disease in 2017. I continue to play for both Maw Maw Pat and Maw Peg, but this year I will also be honoring my aunt, Bonnie Meyer. Bonnie was diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment (MCI), and has the markers for Alzheimer's disease. She is currently in a clinical trial in Phoenix, Arizona, being cared for by her loving wife and partner of 36 years, Katharine Halpin. All three of these people have had an enormous impact on my life and the lives of those closest to me, and I hope to do good and bring awareness to Alzheimer's disease in their name.
Every 65 seconds someone in the US is diagnosed, and 5.7 million Americans are currently living with this disease. This number is expected to rise in coming years. By giving to BvB Dallas, you are giving directly to beneficiaries in the DFW area who are doing everything they can to care for people who have Alzheimer's disease and hopefully find a cure.
My fundraising goal for this summer is $10,000 and I know I can reach it with the help of my amazing donors. I appreciate each and every person who has shown me love and support on this journey. Let's work together to #TackleAlz!
BvB Dallas is a young-professional organization that hosts a powder-puff football game for a day of fun, fellowship, philanthropy and enjoyment as a way of raising money for Alzheimer’s research and awareness.
