Hi everyone! My name is Graciela and I am proud to be running the 2019 Boston Marathon as part of Team Brookline, in support of the Brookline Symphony Orchestra. I have been a Brookline resident on/off for twelve years and a member of the orchestra's viola section since 2012. Although I have been cheering on runners on Marathon Monday since college, I didn't start running until one chilly February morning in 2015, when a friend convinced me to run the Cambridge Super Sunday 5K (the Pats won their fourth Super Bowl title that night). My marathon motto is "run for those who can't," in honor of the victims and survivors of the 2013 marathon bombing. Although this will be my first full marathon, I am determined to make it the best race ever!
The Brookline Symphony Orchestra provides qualified volunteer musicians an opportunity to enhance their skills while enriching the cultural life of the community through affordable performances and outreach events. The OBSO (Other BSO, as we call ourselves) is a treasured institution, not only because it enhances Brookline's cultural identity, but because of its dedication to giving back to the community. In addition to traditional concerts, the orchestra performs a number of free outreach events, including full orchestra concerts at schools, nursing homes, and hospitals. We are honored to give Brookline an orchestra to be proud of, for both its musical achievements and community involvement.

Team Brookline, the Town of Brookline’s official Boston Marathon team, is a committed group of adult runners who train together for the Boston Marathon while raising funds for five partner charities that play an integral role in strengthening and enriching our community: The Brookline Center for Community Mental Health, Brookline Education Foundation, Brookline Library Foundation, Brookline Symphony Orchestra, and Brookline Teen Center. Since its inception in 2012, more than 125 runners, supported by friends, family, neighbors, colleagues, and each other, as well as local business community, have raised $1.2 million to strengthen our community and make a true impact in the lives of all who live, work, or go to school in Brookline. When you train and run with Team Brookline, you strengthen our community, expanding access to mental health care, literacy, the arts, youth development programs and education.
