Hi! My name is Holly, and I am so excited to be running the 2019 Boston Marathon as a member of Team Brookline. Having lived in the neighboring town for several years, I feel at home in the Brookline community. I started running track back in first grade and picked up long distance running in college. I ran my first half marathon and marathon in 2009, and I ran the Cape Cod marathon in 2014. I've also completed a number of triathlons, including Ironman Mont-Tremblant, Ironman Timberman 70.3, and the Patriot Half.
Running is a core compenent of who I am and has brought so much joy to my life. When I first moved to Boston, my sense of community came from being a runner. I began seeing the same runners as I ran my usual route every day, and after the 2013 marathon bombings, the sense of pride I had being a runner in Boston never felt stronger. Boston has the best running community in the country, in my opinion, and I'm honored to take part in the city's best event of the year.
Running has also brought me the greatest happiness in my life, my spouse. I fell in love with my now-husband while running laps around the Chestnut Hill Reservoir late into the night, and together we've explored Boston by foot over countless miles. Running with him built our strength and trust in each other, and it also provided us the opportunity to be vulnerable. In many ways, running (and Boston) is the foundation of our family, and will always have a special place in my life.
I am running the marathon as a member of Team Brookline, an group that is raising money for the Brookline Center for Community Mental Health, Brookline Education Foundation, Brookline Library Foundation, Brookline Symphony Orchestra, and Brookline Teen Center. My portion of fundraising will benefit the Brookline Symphony Orchestra. Thank you for your generous donation!
