Dear Family & Friends:
In April, I will be running the 2019 Boston Marathon with Team Brookline. I am excited to be a part of this team that will train together while raising funds for five partner charities that plan in integral role in strengthening and enriching our community: The Brookline Center for Community Mental Health, Brookline Education Foundation, Brookline Library Foundation, Brookline Symphony Orchestra, and Brookline Teen Center.
This year, I am using my training to raise funds and awareness for mental health through the Brookline Center for Community Health. I am excited to be able to run the Boston Marathon, a race that is near and dear to my heart while strengthening and enriching our community.
The Brookline Center provides outstanding, affordable mental health care and social services that help people and families lead healthier, safer lives. A community approach to mental health offers a model care – and a depth of success – like no other, by weaving clinical therapies into a network of community engagement.
Mental illnesses affect 19% of the adult population, 46% of teenagers and 13% of children each year. I have personally watched friends struggle and continue to struggle with mental health. This year, I am determined to make an impact on mental health awareness. Each mile I run, I will fight the stigma, encourage non-judgmental speak and advocate for policies that support people with mental illness and their families. I hope my story can encourage others to be supportive, ask for help, and check in with those close to them.
Please join me in strengthening our community by expanding access and awareness to mental health. To make an impact, please consider donating to my fundraising campaign. Your donation transforms lives, creating hope and possibility.
Thank you for supporting me on this 26.2 mile journey. Your support is what will carry me through the long, cold training runs and the hilly Boston Marathon course.
