Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! I am so honored to be fundraising for Team Brookline on behalf of The Brookline Center for Community Mental Health, and I am very excited to be running the Boston Marathon! This will be my sixth marathon, but my first time running in Boston, and I can't wait to experience the excitement and community support of this run!
My mom lives in Coolidge Corner, and is very involved in the local Brookline community. I lived in Newton when I was a child. My aunt, uncle, and many cousins live in Newton and in the Boston area. I have many friends from college, summer camp, and medical school who live in the Boston area. I have many strong connections to Brookline and to Boston, and am excited to support such an important local organization. I have been a runner since 2005, and I love running, especially when it can be used to support a vital and impactful cause!
I am fundraising on behalf of The Brookline Center for Community Mental Health. As a pediatric oncology doctor, I see first-hand the importance that mental health treatment has on caring for our patients. In our pediatric oncology clinic, we have a dedicated psychologist who cares for all of our patients, and who is an integral part of the multidiscplinary care team. Giving chemo is just part of cancer treatment; mental health care for the patients and their families is a vital part of caring for the patient as a whole. Mental Health is an important part of the medical care of each and every patient in every community, and The Brookline Center for Community Mental Health is a fundamental organization in providing that care.
Team Brookline, the Town of Brookline’s official Boston Marathon team, is a committed group of adult runners who train together for the Boston Marathon while raising funds for five partner charities that play an integral role in strengthening and enriching the Brookline community: The Brookline Center for Community Mental Health, Brookline Education Foundation, Brookline Library Foundation, Brookline Symphony Orchestra, and Brookline Teen Center. Since Team Brookline's inception in 2012, more than 125 runners, supported by friends, family, neighbors, colleagues, and each other, as well as local business community, have raised $1.2 million to strengthen the Brookline community and make a true impact in the lives of all who live, work, or go to school in Brookline.
